Basics of Buying Internet Domains

Buying a domain is like buying a luxurious brand new car. It is not something that you would haphazardly choose and immediate buy without rightful research and overall analysis. Because of the fact that buying a domain entails great expenses, you would not want to invest on it without thinking the pros and cons of what you are about to do. Good thing there’s www.directinfodom as it can provide you’re a step-by-step comprehensive guide in buying a domain.

First and foremost, initiate a brainstorm after listing all the possible names that might fit the content and purpose of your website. Bear in mind that the better the name of the domain the more likely it is to be taken by others or that it could be expensive.

Second, check if the list you made are already taken—if not you may be lucky! However, due to thousand of existing links in the internet, finding the most appropriate name to fit to your website would be hard so be ready for the best alternatives you have on the list.

Third, go to each domain listed on your list and make a short breakdown in the following category: real business, squatter pages, construction pages, and dead pages. Real business pages are those domains already existing and are in fact being used. Just sink those domain names at the bottom of your list as acquiring real business pages can be difficult and pricier. Squatter pages are sites which only present links to other sites for lead generations. Squatter pages means the domain is indeed for sale. Construction pages means that someone is about to put up a business page on it or an owner forget to register the site and is merely holding it up. Last but not least are dead pages. These pages show nothing, but don’t jump into conclusion that dead pages are automatically available. Most dead pages are actually owned and you first have to deal with the owners before you can buy them.

Fourth, it is time to contact the owners of the domain. Most sites leave contact numbers of their owners as they foresee that anyone could be interested in buying their domain. However, in case there is no contact number listed in the site; browse the internet archive to look at older pages and contact details.

Fifth, once you have the contact number of the owner, contact the owner and immediately ask if the domain is for sale. Take note—you must never make an offer right away. You may want to be an anonymous on looker by creating a new email without revealing any material contact information. This can be cheaper however this lowers your chances of contacting the owners as you would appear like a scammer.

Lastly and probably the most difficult stage in buying a domain—the tag-of-war of negotiation. Three to four letters of domain name is expensive. The moment your domain name reaches five letters, it becomes cheaper. More words also mean lesser cost. After hours of grueling negotiation, the final step is to make them agree. Try and get a yes in writing as fast as you can. Once you have it, lock it up and never let it go.

Dead Domains – find out How to give them a Good Send Off

How many times have you bookmarked a web site and, months later,
gone back to find that the original content has disappeared and
the new web site appears to be a directory of links? How
frustrating is that! Have you stopped and considered why this is
happening? If you were the owner of the domain name, how annoyed
were you to find that your domain is live and well and earning
someone else some money when you couldn’t make an honest dollar
from your old web site?

There are several things which you ought to know about your
domain name registration. While you pay for the annual renewal
of the registration, and especially if you have “locked” your
domain name, it is yours. However, when you don’t renew the name
with your registrar, it goes through a protection scheme of up
to 75 days when you can renew the registration and add the
domain name back into your portfolio. After that, it’s open
hunting season for expired domain names, particularly those with
web traffic.

There are many Domain Name Hunters who scour the internet each
and every day looking for valuable domains which show signs of
death. The obvious signs are that the domain hasn’t been renewed
and is in the redemption period. There are several well known
companies whose sole role in life is to snap up the expired
domains THE SECOND that they become available again (they have
developed software to allow them to do this) – and then they
either sell them to the highest bidder – or put a directory site
on them which has a whole lot of affiliate links of one kind or
another. Then they sit back and let your work in building
traffic bring in a small income each month. As they probably own
thousands of domains, this business can be extremely profitable
for them. All this is perfectly legal and above board. These are
genuine businesses who are breaking no rules and they are
expanding all the time.

What can you do about those unwanted, unprofitable domain names
which you have marketed so assiduously?

You have several options.

·You could put a “This domain is for sale” notice on your web
site and see if someone will make you an offer. ·Consider
selling your complete web site – it may be that your competitors
are interested in your site. ·Allow the domain name to lapse and
someone else may benefit from your work; – but the best solution
may be to ·Keep your domain registration up to date and sell it
at online auction at http://www.sellmydomain.co.uk

There’s more! …. Have you also spotted that some domain name
registrars are putting up a “this domain may be for sale” page
if you allow your registration to lapse for more than three or
four days and they are redirecting your web site to their name
servers and their own directory site. This is happening only a
few days after your domain should have been renewed. Arguably
domain registrars have a right to do this, as it is in their
terms and conditions of contract. However, for you the
consequences might be loss of search engine ranking, if you
still wish to maintain your web site. It certainly also means
loss of control of the domain if you do wish to sell it.

In these circumstances, we recommend renewing the domain
registration, even if you do not pay for hosting; then YOU can
choose how to sell the domain and if you’d like to test the
waters by auctioning your web site at
http://www.sellmydomain.co.uk. That’s how you can give your
unwanted domains a good send off!

several years now. Find out more at
sale is free, with a modest commission paid only if it is sold.

How to Earn Money Parking Domain Names

There are a number of ways that you can make money when it comes to parking domain names and domain names in general. For those that may not be familiar with parking domain names, this is the process by which domains are parked within a given host account and at the same time the owner is able to earn passive income by the use of pay per click ads through traffic that is generated by search engines until the parked domain names are used for their intended purpose or sold.

You have probably seen parked domains. These are sites that you type in and you get the search pages sometimes with the statement written on the top that this domain is for sale. If you are purchasing a large amount of domains and reselling them, parking the domain names can be a great way to earn money off the domains while you are waiting to sell them.

It helps to drive traffic to the site, which can help to encourage the sale of the domain, and the ads that can be placed on the site can produce pay per click revenue. Even if you are not purchasing a large quantity of domains but are just purchasing one or a couple for your own business and are not ready to build on the site yet. Parking the domain and placing advertisements on it can be one way to earn revenue from the website while you are deciding what you want to with your website or even with your business in general.

Many people purchase their domains in order to hold them, months in advance before starting up their business as part of the organization and preparations that come before you can successfully launch a business. It is also common for people to purchase the .com, .net and even .org for their domain names with which they intend to publish different information on each on of this domains. While you are building these additional sites, you can earn revenue by parking them.

The only down side or disadvantage to attempting to do revenue sharing or pay per click advertising off a parked domain is that you may have to drive traffic towards your website unless you have a web address that is a common misspelling of another website and is going to attract a large number of visitors.

For small quantities of visitors, it is general hard to earn money through domain name parking. There are different ways however to turn a parked domain into something that can earn money for you while you are waiting for the domain to sell or you are in the process of developing the website, for instance by shopping around and buying expired domain names with a reasonable page rank and Alexa ranking.

It is a fairly common practice to park a domain and attempt to earn revenue off that domain while it is parked especially if it is a domain name that already generates traffic either because of previous business or because of common misspelling.

Internet Marketing Idea: Designing Websites with Sales In Mind

One of the very first decisions we make as internet marketers involves the critical choices in designing websites. We each have differing opinions and viewpoints of just what our site should look like. More often than not, these decisions are based on personal opinions or selections limited to the templates of the respective applications utilized for building the site. But there has to be more to this than personal preference – with no real basis for the logic and methodology tha should go into making the decisions!

Manual Article Submission

Quality Article Submission Services Boost Your Search Engine Ranking http://www.MagicSeoBot.com

What about this logic —beyond the appearance – lets also look at the “sales” potential of one design versus another. Think about it, why do some websites sell better than anothers? Do you need a marketing degree to create a website? Does design have much impact on sales?

You may not realize this but many of the successful internet marketing businesses already figured out that design, or layout of the website should be as much of a marketing decision as the ad copy. Why is that?

Web designers (and individuals with software apps) can do some amazing things with graphics and colors. You will also have a much more professional looking site when an expert applies his or her handiwork. However, it is critically important to understand some of the key elements that smart marketers make certain appear (or NOT appear) on highly profitable sites. After all, having a “pretty” site does you no good if you are not getting traffic or revenue from sales. Being aware of these will enable you (or your selected designer) to keep in mind this balance between marketing and design. The three key elements are color, graphics, and layout.

COLOR: Designs with a dramatic color can make compelling choices for setting a mood. But reading on a computer screen demands as much contrast as possible, otherwise the reader will develop vision fatigue. You do not want to irritate or tire your visitors in any way or they may leave, so be certain that the main body of your website copy is black writing on a white background – or as close to that ideal as possible.

Colors also change appearance on different monitors, so what looks cool and calm on one monitor may be bright and glaring on another. Simple works.

GRAPHICS: Striking, bold graphics can be a real eye-catcher for visitors. Still, successful internet marketers are pretty much unanimous in stating that you should avoid flash graphics as much as possible. Again, they tend to tire visitors eyes or create a distraction from the written copy. Even if they are initially impressed by the work it may subconsciously annoy them. Simplicity is again the best way to go.

Top Tips to Prevent Cybersquatting

It’s comforting to know that one thing we rarely have to worry about in business is arriving in the morning to find a band of squatters occupying the office. Problem is that, thanks to a growing phenomenon known as cybersquatting, it’s getting rather trickier to protect your online presence. Nominet, the Internet registry for .UK domain names and all round web domain boffins, talked iQ through some good eviction tactics.

1. Cyber what?
Cybersquatting. It’s where a company or individual chooses to register, sell, or use a domain name – the unique ‘handle’ relating to the IP address of the computer on which a particular website is hosted – with the sole purpose of profiting financially, or in some other way, from another brand’s trademark or even Intellectual Property. Put simply, it’s when someone steals the name of your website. Typically, this involves:

The cybersquatter registering a domain name incorporating another company’s trademark or trade name. For instance, if Nominet has built a brand up around the domain nominet.org.uk, someone could register nominet.co.uk and try and sell it back to Nominet at a profit.
A company losing its domain name to an opportunist squatter – perhaps because they have inadvertently failed to renew it – with similar results.
The cybersquatter posting defamatory, disparaging and/or other damaging content referring to the victim on the site in dispute, in the hope of a quick sale of the domain as the victim tries to minimise potential harm to their business.

2. Isn’t that illegal?
There’s (a little) room for debate here, with some taking the view that such activity is in the spirit of free market economics. There’s little question of its ethical and moral dubiousness however. UK civil courts base their approach on registered and unregistered trademark law however, which means that if a domain name is similar to a trademark registered to the claimant, it may fall under registered trademark infringement. Where a name only has value because of the reputation built up in the unregistered name by the claimant, that money is made on the back of goodwill, which the original trader put effort into creating. UK courts tend to take a dim view of both these activities.

3. What else?
Other variations include ‘typosquatting’, where the squatter registers a name that’s a deliberate misspelling of a popular site. The aim here is to profit whenever a user makes a typo putting the web address into their browser. Typo-squat based sites typically contain pay-per-click ads with monies directed to the typosquatter each time a user clicks on a link. Additionally, cybersquatters often refuse to sell a disputed domain for a ‘reasonable’ amount (part of the appeal is trying to sweat the victim for an inflated price.) On other occasions the trademark owner will have their own reasons for not settling. They may want to discourage further cybersquatters, for example, or may refuse to pay the squatter off on principle. In these situations, court or arbitration proceedings may be required to recover the domain name in dispute.

4. Is cybersquatting lucrative then?
Extremely in some cases. According to Nominet’s 2007 Domain Name Industry Report, there is an active market in buying, selling, and storing domain names, with sales regularly exceeding 100,000 and with peak values reaching more than 1 million. Based on current renewals trends revealed in the report, in the next 2 years alone, over 140,000.co.uk domains will be re-registered less than 10 seconds after they become available.

5. How can I solve the problem?
If you believe you’ve fallen victim, a number of options are available such as pursuing litigation through the courts or via dispute resolution services. The latter can be a cost effective, efficient method of resolving conflicts and a variety are available to UK businesses online, including Nominet’s Dispute Resolution Service (DRS) for .uk domain names, and the Uniform Domain Name Dispute Resolution Policy (UDRP) for .com, .net and others. The success of such practices has meant that it is now possible to guard against potential cyber threats cost-effectively. The challenge is to ensure that resolution services adapt to what is a rapidly changing online environment.

6. Who else can help?
Increasing numbers of law firms now specialise in negotiating domain name disputes and can, where necessary, represent complainants in arbitration. This process is generally less costly than formal litigation, but the expense can still be prohibitive – especially where the domain name itself is of no particular or great value. Because of this, many disputes are resolved via negotiated settlements.

7. How do I stop cybersquatters in the first place?
One of the main precautions is as simple as remembering to renew your domain names in a timely fashion. Renewing before expiration should be a top priority and not something to be managed complacently, as failure to renew even seconds after expiry can result in your online brand identity being snapped up there and then. The Nominet 2007 Domain Name industry Report emphasises the serious need for businesses to prioritise in this area. A surprising 14% of businesses don’t renew until the day after their renewal date, often citing plain forgetfulness. This can be a costly mistake. Also, with renewal being a fairly straightforward process (with a 6 month renewal period in advance of the expiry date for .uk names), there’s no reason why a domain name should ever be lost! It’s also not a bad idea to register several similar domain names so no-one else can come in later and capitalise on your brand name using another domain extension.

Ways to Use Coupon and Discount Codes in Your Website – Drive Sales and Learn About Your Business!

If you have a website and you sell products, you will want to consider using coupon codes and discount codes. The proper use of them can teach you a great deal about your business while also driving sales.

1) E-Commerce Sites

Coupon codes and discount codes are a must for e-commerce sites. Consumers expect them and look for them. You should create these codes with definite expiration dates and with specific goals in mind.

Sample goals:

- Move a specific line of products (product-specific codes)

- Increase overall sales (site-wide code)

- Pre-sell items (product-specific code)

- Clearance items (product-specific code)

- Announce new product line (product-specific code)

When you set up your coupon or discount codes, you also want to track where the person found the code. Set up different codes for each of the following resources:

- Your internal blog and website

- Your e-mail distribution list

- One for each of your social media accounts/sites

- External blogs (one per blog)

- External sites (one per site)

Setting up your coupon and discount codes in this manner will help you learn where your buyers are coming from. You want to know who is actually buying on your site and where are they coming from. Coupon codes are a good way to start to learn this.

You can even set up different coupon and discount amounts based on the resource. For example, you may negotiate with a large blog that you will offer their readers a bigger discount code than offered anywhere else in exchange for a blog posting about your site. It can be an effective bargaining chip because all blog owners want to reward their followers.

2) Brick and Mortar Stores

Your website may or may not sell directly online. Regardless of whether or not it does, you want to offer coupon codes and discount codes that they can print and bring into your store. This will help you start to see how much traffic is driven from your site to your store.

Auto dealerships and restaurants effectively use this to gauge how well their online marketing is going. Simply have a printable coupon or discount certificate that must be presented at your business and see the effect of your marketing.

Similar to the e-commerce sites, you want to have different certificates or coupon codes based on where they found you. This will help you determine which resources are driving the most traffic to your website.

3) Frequency and Discount Amounts

At the very least you should offer quarterly discount codes. Depending on your business you may consider monthly, weekly or even daily specials. If you are going to offer any discount codes you want to make sure they are real. People will read right through “fake” discounts and you will lose all credibility.

Some discount and coupon codes you can consider:

- Free domestic shipping

- Free overnight shipping

- 10% – 90% off (you determine the appropriate percentage off)

- Buy 1 get 1 free (or similar)

- Free gift with purchase

Again, the key is creating a real discount code or coupon code that has value. If you do this you can increase sales while also learning important information about where your business gets its clients/customers.

Now Pay Close Attention –

Using your Facebook Fan Page to increase your business exposure and revenue is simpler than you’ve been told. Everyone with a facebook fan page faces the same two problems:

Domains 101: Fun and Useful Things You Will Do with Domain Names; Half 3 of three

In Part one of this series we have a tendency to discussed how to choose a nice domain name, and in Half a pair of we have a tendency to reviewed where to register and a way to manage them. In this the final section, we’re going to discuss some uses for multiple domains. Before you become a “domain connoisseur,” you wish to understand the benefits of owning a lot of then one domain and what you’ll be able to do with them: 1) Redirects: Maybe once you registered your website there have been alternative names you liked additionally, or maybe you registered the .web version of your name. It’s very straightforward to point these names to your existing web site therefore when somebody sorts in one of these alternate domain names in their browser, they’ll still land up at your site. For example EzineAdAuction.com or EzineAdAuction.com(MERLE: THESE ARE THE SAME! WAS ONE SUPPOSED TO BE A .web?)can both take you to the same place. Your internet host can set this up for you. Some charge a tiny monthly fee for this service. You can use these alternate names in your advertising. If your name will be easily misspelled, create sure to register any variations and redirect them to your site. This will additionally keep your competitors from registering them and infringing on your traffic, whereas sending all those who can’t spell to the correct place.Bear in mind that alternative domain names don’t have to purpose to your main page; they can be forced to purpose to certain pages or sections of your website as you deem fit. 2) Mini Sites: By monitoring hot trends online you can quickly register a domain name and style a mini website around one product or service. If promoted properly, mini sites can be good residual cash makers. These are great for pushing and creating affiliate sales. 3) Domains as Commodoties: Some folks purchase domains simply to resell them at a profit. If you get the proper names, it’s doable to sell them to the very best bidder. Selling domains at auction sites has increased in popularity and may be a great way to move your domain inventory. A number of the higher known auction sites are:One in all the most well-liked places for buying and selling domains. You’ll should upgrade to an Exchange Membership for .00 No membership fee to list your domains, however you may pay a fifteen% commission fee to them if you sell. They actually have a bit for selling your domain names. Upon entering Ebay, do an exploration in the search box for “domains.”Before putting your domains up for sale, you could wish to have them appraised therefore you recognize what they are worth. You’ll notice several appraisal services on-line to assist you are doing just that.Appraisals begin at solely 6.ninety five and go up to 14.95 for an analysis that features a onerous copy.Domain appraisals begin out at only .00 4) Shrink Them: Despite your best efforts to come up with a name that is short and concise, you could end up settling for one thing longer then you’d like. There are free services you’ll use to shorten them into something a lot of manageable. When these new links are pasted into a browser they go to your site. If you’re promoting any quite associate program, these sorts of services come back in additional handy for handling those further long domain names they provide you. They additionally help to hid the very fact that you’re using an affiliate link.I really like this service. Just paste your long domain into the window and it spits out a version so short you will not believe it’s possible. Great for using in your ezine to break long domain links into shorter ones so they don’t break off in surprising places.Shorl offers not solely url shortening but statistics on how several individuals click on your new short name.Create shorter link is another free service where you only type in your long url and click the “build shorter link” button and you are set.As you’ll see, there is additional to domains then meets the eye. As you discover yourself collecting a lot of and more names you need to concentrate on all of the inventive ways you can use them in your daily business. Sell them, shorten them, redirect them; but above all, use them in your on-line ventures and you may generate a lot of income.

Does Having a Secure Website Increase Sales?

Having a secure and safe website guarantees to increase the amount of visitors to your site, as well as the sales you make. Studies have shown that a site with a Hacker-proof Seal increases all sales by approximately 6% after only 3 weeks, and continues to increase. This is because of three main reasons:

You Gain the Customers Confidence. If the customer feels like they can trust you and are safe on your site, then they won’t be so skeptical signing up, or purchasing your product. People know that with a safety seal, like Trust Guard, they are protected from Identity Theft, Credit Card Fraud, and Hackers that can attack their computer. Have a secure sight that the people can trust is essential to having sales at all. This also builds great social equity between you and your customers.
Have a Security Seal Looks Professional. Having a badge on your sight established your credibility, as well as the credibility of your company or small business. It shows that you truly care about the safety of your site, and those visiting it.
Now Days, It Is Expected. Not having a Trusting security seal on your site can actually damage your credibility. So many people now days are becoming more informed, and know to look for that seal. If you do not have one, you usually do not have the customer either.

The best ways to help your site succeed is to be secure. Purchase a secure site protector such as Trust Guard. This will give you the credibility you desire and a huge increase in your sales.

Also, be sure to update your website often, this demonstrates that it is current and still worth using. No one wants a product that is obsolete.

Design your site professionally, and put your Trust Guard Seal right at the top of your site so it is for sure seen. If you post your Security Seal at the top of the page, or right by the check out/purchasing link, it has proven that you will receive more sales than if you were to place it anywhere else on the page.

In addition, don’t forget to build your social equity and get your site out there so that the people will come to you.

The best way to Succeed at doing all of the above is to use Trust Guard. Businesses all over have been amazed with the great results they have received and how much more professional their website appears and the credibility it gains, simply from having a Trust Guard Seal. Below are some sincere testimonials (more of which you can find at: http://www.trust-guard.com/clients-testimonials-s/31.htm) hoping that your security will be with someone you can Trust.

“There shouldn’t be a decision whether or not a website uses trust seals. Like having an SSL certificate, it should be just “what you do”. I initially doubted the hidden power of trust seals. I thought that because of our stunning web site and incredible product, people would just trust us. Nope. The Trust Guard seals improved our conversion by 59.61%. I recommend Trust Guard because they are upfront, transparent, and their system automatically tests itself so you can see how well it works for you. The competition seems to focus on marketing & sales. Trust Guard focuses on results.”

-Paul Young, Skybound Software

“After years of experience with other trust seals, the latest being HackerSafe (McAfee), we were tired of seeing the seal used as an advertisement for the issuer. Instead of assuring our customer that Lumera Diamonds is safe and secure, the seal was promoting the benefits of purchasing the service. Our average ticket on diamonds is over 00, so security is an important issue for our customers. Trust Guard fits the bill perfectly, and is a much better value than any other option we have reviewed.”

-Joe Brehob, lumeradiamonds.com

“Glow Products Corp. has been using web seals from Trust Guard since 2006. Trust Guard increases consumer confidence in the ability to shop in our online store, and has increased online sales by 70%. Their level of customer service is the highest in the industry. When we switched over from an older format of seals to a new format, any problems were promptly handled. We use Trust Guard on all four of our websites, and highly recommend users switch over to Trust Guard in order to receive the same high level of professionalism and expertise that our company experiences.”

-Ray Kyle, Glow Products Corp

Trust Guard Truly is a secure, trusting, honest company that does its absolute best to give the customer what they want and need, especially when it comes to being safe and secure.

All online business owners want to attract as many targeted visitors to their websites as possible. Their favourite kind of visitors are the free ones and the best source of free targeted website traffic is article marketing. The concept is simple: you write an article, it gets distributed in ezines and posted on other people’s websites where potential customers will read it and click through on a link to visit your website.

The articles you write will also be used as additional content for your own website, and this is valuable for SEO purposes as well as for attracting visitors. Your articles are more than just reading matter for visitors, though; you could think of article pages as mini-sales pages.

When you are adding content to your website, look at each page you complete as if you are a visitor entering the site for the first time via that page. Is there an obvious way for the visitor to find the home page, site map, contact details etc? You might think it is easy enough to scroll to the bottom of the page and squint a bit to see the small text hiding against a camouflaging background, but then you knew it was there all along, your visitors won’t see it because they won’t go looking for it.

It is a big mistake to expect visitors to hunt around for links; they won’t bother to work that hard when it is easy to hit their “back” button and find a more easily navigable website. Place the links where they will be seen easily by any visitor. It is best to make the links obvious by having a contrasting background to make them easy to read. You can have all kinds of fancy roll-over effects for links but these are not essential. The best way to deal with links is to have them underlined because everybody is accustomed to underlining indicating a link.

At the very least, you should have a link to the home page but you can also induce visitors to explore by having a link to your site map or a “you might also be interested in…” menu and facilitate return visits by providing an automatic bookmark button.

Having a search box at the end of an article page is an easy way to earn some extra money from the page and you can make more money by having some Ad sense (or similar) advertisements on your article pages.

Another great way to make money from your online article pages is to embed your affiliate links into the body of the article. This maximises the sales page aspect of your article page but means some extra time and effort to set up and maintain. Links embedded in articles offer a natural-looking way to introduce your long term affiliate programs to visitors. To avoid having dead links (which will create a bad impression with visitors) it is safest to use this sort of contextual linking only for affiliate products that won’t need continual updating.

The system provided by Amazon offers an easy way to get contextual advertising links into your articles. All this requires is for you to copy and paste a small script into the foot of your web page. The software will automatically pick out keywords and link them to relevant products.

Visitors to your website won’t all arrive in an orderly fashion via your main index page, your article pages will be additional entry points from which you can steer visitors to your home page or sales page, or even make a sale right there on the article page.

The website www.moneymarket.co.nz is for sale. It is a fully functioning WordPress website. It includes automatically updated tables of currency exchange rates, global stock market reports and the top 15 stocks in the NZX. The website is currently ranked number two on Google for a New Zealand search of the keyword money market and for this reason the domain name alone is of considerable value.
