Welcome to our advertising section, this page is designed to give some indication of the advertising options open to people who use the Internet as a method of demonstration their products and services. Web PagesThese can be specifically designed as one page advertisements, similar to the A4 fliers that are often circulated by mail order companies, newspapers, bookshops, The Warehouse, postmen etc. The major design problem with this form of advertising is that they can tend to be graphically intensive, which means slower download speeds. If sites take too long to download your visitors can become inflicted with TBF (the boredom factor) and they invariably will go to another site. We recommend that if you are going to use web pages as a form of advertising then you limit the number of graphics (three or four maximum) and they are reduced in size to ensure fast download speed. Banner Ads
As you surf the Internet you will find numerous examples of Banner Ads, this is now considered the acceptable method for advertising products and services on the Internet. Banner Ads are usually designed in full colour, animated, and positioned so that visitors see the Banner Ad before the important information contained within the page or site. There are several sites that provide services "on line" for free in exchange for hosting one of their Banner Ads, places like Tripod have their banners drop down whenever you visit one of the sites hosted on their servers. Banner advertising allow companies to cheaply promote their goods and services to the world, and most Banner Ads link to a web page or site. You probably came here by clicking on a banner like the one above. My Net in conjunction with the nztrades - the New Zealand Trades Directory have developed a policy for the design and hosting of Banner Ads on the nztrades site. The positioning and location is guaranteed for one year at a fixed rate, negotiated with the Webmaster and company/organisation who wishes to use this service.
